Sharon Harris and Nesha Jones OWN IT!!

Sharon has been a caregiver with us for over two years. She has worked with various clients and has been a great team member. She cared for one client, Janet, for about 17 months, where she was self-motivating in her care. She saw what needed to be done and did it. She worked with the family to ensure the client’s well-being as Janet’s needs changed over time. Sharon was aware of the care plan and was able to chat, engage and help her feel loved and cared for. Sharon took care of all of her responsibilities including accompanying Janet to her various doctors’ appointments and learning about Janet’s colostomy bag and how to care for it. Sharon has an outgoing and fun personality and can make clients and others feel at ease.

Nesha is a newer caregiver to the team. Nesha has picked up last minute shifts and has stayed for a double last minute due to an emergency. This has saved us and we are so grateful! She is hard working!  I met Nesha last week for a meet and greet with a new client, John. John was just getting home from rehabilitation after being gone multiple weeks. Nesha jumped right in looking for cleaners, rags, etc. to go about wiping down the kitchen and the refrigerator to make his home feel fresh and clean. She did not ask what needed to be done, she just saw a need and got to work while John was resting and talking with the home health nurse.  She was engaging with John. She saw that he needed groceries and sat with him to make a list and went to pick them up.

We are grateful that Sharon and Nesha OWN IT! Their ability to be self-motivatinghardworking, to take care of all responsibilities, to follow up and follow through and to be accountable are awesome attributes for a caregiver!  Thank you, Sharon and Nesha!!

Preserving Dignity Through Quality Care

This is our Mission Statement. We want all of our clients to feel and know they are receiving the best care. They need to know when we come into their home, they have dignity, compassion, and high quality focused care.

We have two caregivers who do just every shift, and have been doing this for a long time!

Sara Wall has been with Essential Care for 12.5 years! She is consistently on time, takes shifts that are offered-some last minute, shows up ready to work, is focused on her client and follows the care plan. Sara has a gift to ask her clients engaging questions and to learn about their life. She sees what needs to be done and does it, she goes above and beyond in her care, is very thorough and can put clients and their families at ease. Sara is very musically talented and has had the opportunity over the years to share this with her clients on a few occasions. Sara has worked with multiple clients over the years and does not have one client complaint-this is phenomenal! Her clients love having her as their caregiver as they are receiving quality care every shift!

Christine Dobson has been with Essential Care for 5.5 years! She is invested in her clients’ care on every shift. She is detail oriented and does not miss anything. She is always on time, is aware of the situations, and will consistently show up for her client every time. Christine has worked on some of our longer standing 24 hour care clients. She is a great team member, will pass off information to the next caregiver and train and guide if needed. She is very skilled in caring for bed bound clients. She is meticulous, aware, compassionate and knows how to reposition, clean, talk with and make her clients very comfortable. She also has zero client complaints-phenomenal!

Thank you Sara and Christine for all the quality care being provided by you both! Essential Care is so lucky to have your compassion, kindness, knowledge and skills every time you enter a clients home!

Compassion! This is what I hear a lot about when I am talking about the Core Values. A lot of caregivers know it takes compassion to be a wonderful caregiver. Have Compassion is the Core Value for May. Caregivers who are kind, caring and are respectful with clients, co-workers and others, value and engage these characteristics every shift. We have two caregivers who know this very well and we are grateful!

Victoria Smith has been an employee for a few months. She jumped right in to work with a new client on hospice. Be Smart means:

  • Be a problem solver
  • Use common sense
  • Be aware, pay attention
  • Use training to make decisions related to your job
  • Feel empowered in your knowledge and capabilities to make decisions

Lola has been with Essential Care for well over a year. She is reliable, hard-working, and knows her clientele well. She is aware of her clients’ care plans and pays attention to what they need. She gets to know her clients and understands their day-to-day routine. She is skilled and comes with over 20+ years of experience. This experience has helped her to be empowered in her knowledge and capabilities to make decisions. Her client is very happy with her, as is her client’s power of attorney. They both know Lola will show up and give great care in her work. She uses common sense in all the dynamics her client has, including diabetes, stubbornness at times, and not wanting to get up and get changed. She does this in a calm and professional manner.

Lola has saved our team more than once when she was willing and able to do last-minute double shifts. Lola is dedicated, and we are so happy she is on our team! Lola knows how to Be Smart and help Essential Care!

Rosalia is a newer caregiver with us. She is smart and uses common sense in her job. She has worked with a handful of clients since her hire and pays attention to what needs to be done. She learns what the client needs and will assist in helping the routine. She has recently helped her client come up with an exercise ball routine to help keep her strong. Rosalia will remind her to do this, and they can do it together to stay engaged. Rosalia is kind, knowledgeable, and capable of making decisions related to her job. She has worked on a 24-hour client with us, and she was always kind and helpful at shift change.

Thank you, Rosalia, for being here and setting a great example of the Core Value of Be Smart.

WE LOVE THE CORE VALUE WORK TOGETHER!!!

Working Together looks like the following:

Demonstrate unity: The team of caregivers have smooth, kind, informative pass offs with each other. No one feels like they are being bossed around by the other; there is mutual respect for each other and for the strengths each other brings to the team.

Be a team player: Each team member does their job every shift and the continuity of care continues to the next shift.

Client needs trump personal differences: The client comes first! If there are personal differences, this is kept away from the client and their family, and if needed, discussed at a later time.

Clear communication: When talking, texting or taking notes-this is all clear, and respectful. Also, asking questions if there is something that is not understood. And when a text is sent, it is replied to.

Take on work that is available or offered: Shifts are taken and we see and have confidence that employees want to work.

In the office, we notice when caregivers exemplify this core value, as they get back to us regarding work offered, and that caregiving teams get along with each other.

Rose Parks and Baljeet Raggi are two caregivers who understand and live this core value on every shift and with every interaction we have with them. They both have had clients tell us they are great caregivers! They are newer employees and are super assets to the team.

Baljeet has worked with 9 different clients, and Rose with 16 clients, in the short time they have been here. This shows that they are taking the work that is offered, whether it is fill in or more of a regular client. They both reply quickly to our communication and help out the scheduling team quite often.

Rose and Baljeet are now on the same team as they care for the same client. They kindly pass off with each other at shift change and communicate and make a game plan to help their client have the best day!

We are so grateful for these two amazing team members!! We are glad you are here Baljeet and Rose.

Congratulations to Sharon and Season, our Caregivers of the Month for February!

Trustworthy has been defined as deserving of trust or confidence, dependable and reliable. A couple of synonyms are honorablehonesttrueIntegrity as a firm adherence to a code of especially moral values.

These are two of the characteristics that we highly value with the Core Value: Do the Right Thing. We would like to shout out two caregivers who carry this Core Value with them to every shift: Sharon Peet and Season Kary. We can rely on them to be on their scheduled shifts, care for their clients with quality care and follow protocols for taking notes, clocking in and out and working with others.

Sharon has been with Essential Care for about 3.5 months. She is aware of the clients care plans, medicine, family members and takes meticulous notes. She is always professional, kind, knowledgeable and caring. We can always trust her to do the right thing! She works currently with a client that needs constant eyes on her and requires a lot of care. We are grateful for you Sharon!!

Season has worked for us for eight months and does the right thing! Recently, over the holidays, we had her do a respite client. This client was located on the Las Vegas strip in a hotel. He flew in from the east coast and needed care as he is a paraplegic and in a wheelchair. We needed a caregiver that we knew would be reliable, trustworthy and
skilled.

Season did an amazing job with him and we are grateful for her reliability and willingness to work so hard. We knew she was trustworthy to represent Essential Care very well. She is working now with a client that gets very anxious and confused at times. She is very kind in reassuring him things are ok and can calm him down.

Thank you Sharon and Season for doing the right thing!!!

OWN it!
Employees who OWN IT are very valuable to our team.

They are:

  • Self motivating
  • Hard working
  • Accountable

They take care of all responsibilities and follow up and follow through.

Tammy Levitt and Jonessa Stoudamire are team members who OWN IT!  They both work with clients that have needs/situations that have to be communicated to us and/or the guardians. They definitely follow up and follow through on the care plans and situations that come up.

Jonessa has worked with Essential Care since April. She has a full schedule with her clients and shows up for them. She is attentive, aware, accountable and hard working!

She was recently involved with a project we were working on as a small group at a clients home. She helped with a great attitude, chatting and having fun while they worked, with other caregivers. Thank you Jonessa!

Tammy has been with us since September. Tammy’s client was recently hospitalized. This situation, as we cared for the client at the hospital, and still had responsibilities at the house, required communication, awareness, and accountability.

Tammy was self-motivating as always. She was hard working and worked extra to ensure all responsibilities were covered and her client was well cared for. She is a great team member and hard working!  Thank you Tammy!
